About Our Project

We are at a time in history when the internet is allowing us unprecedented access to information and ways to connect with one another.   We believe this resource is a tool that too often gives attention to those who already have enough (or too much) attention.  We want to utilize the power of this media to bring awareness of the disenfranchised through photography.

The 1st goal of Focus for the Good's project is to use the fine-art portrait skills of professional and student photographers to raise awareness of and money for the poor. We feel everyone is a unique piece of art waiting to be portrayed in such a way that everyone can see their beauty.  Once their beauty has been seen, we feel it will be naturally follow that people will want to protect these works of art. And our society as a whole.   Not just those who can grab the most attention.

The 2nd goal is to teach underserved children how to become photographers so they can record their daily lives, develop their own voice and share their stories with the world.   We believe this will also raise awareness of their situations much like the Dust-Bowl Era photographs raised awareness of what was occurring to a large, and until then, unknown part of the American population.

The 3rd goal is to provide affordable photography services to other area non-profit organizations for their marketing needs.   We can also offer our services as a way to generate earned income through events like "Portrait Days" where the proceeds raised from portrait sessions would be split between Focus for the Good & the host nonprofit organization.   As a photography studio, we have done similar events in the past as a way of advertising our services to the public and they have been very successful.   Contact us if you'd like to discuss any photography needs your group has or would like to set up a "Portrait Day" event for your organization.

"Be the change you wish to see in the world."
